Jenna

This is my friend Jenna.  She is extremely intelligent, kind-hearted, and obviously stunning.

This photograph is a great moment.  Jenna is very grounded in the grey Vancouver weather — that at one point got me down, but I now embrace.  I love it.

Neil

This is Neil.  He is a talented Montreal based photographer who I had the opportunity to work with earlier last month when I interned for the agency/studio he is represented by – l’Éloi.  That whole collective is doing great things, and they are fantastic people.

He is crazy, wise, and a good friend of mine now.  I took several portraits of him, and for one, in the -25 weather of Montreal, he calmly removed his shirt for the capture.  I like this one more though.

I hope to encounter these people in the near future.

This is my friend Keith.  He’s a stand up guy, and a talented artist too.  He’s been playing piano for as long as he can remember, and he has been producing electronic music for four years.

Under his primary alias Sub-Antix, Keith is the resident DJ for notorious Vancouver promotion company MSH Sessions, and has opened for some of the most monstrous acts in the game such as: Excision, Doctor P, Downlink, SKISM, Eskmo, Roksonix, Dieselboy, BAR 9, Borgore, Datsik, and more.

This year at Shambhala Music Festival, listeners had the divine opportunity to experience two of Keith’s tracks being played by two separate artists through the soul shattering frequencies of PK Sound.  Mat The Alien played out Badness – Enigma Dubz (Sub-Antix Remix), and Downlink dropped Culture Shock – Sub-Antix; which was also aired on BBC 1XTRA in early September.

His collaborative EP with Enigma Dubz will be released on Beatport tomorrow on Dank ‘N’ Dirty Dubz, so check it out.

One could go on for a lot longer listing unmentioned but still wild aspects of Keith’s success thus far, but I’ll bring this to a close.  Keith’s accomplishments have been well deserved, and his level headed attitude only makes him more likeable.  Expect even bigger things from him in time to come.

Lastly, here’s an experimental ditty titled Grey that he uploaded to Soundcloud under Atem that I adore.

Samantha

This is Samantha.  She’s a lovely friend of mine.  Recently Ed and I did some web photos for a denim store in gastown, and Sammy was kind enough to help us out by being one of the four foxy models.  During the school year, she spends her time in Montreal among many of my dearest friends, and seems to have found exploring her interest in the cultural/religious aspects of the world fascinating.

I have always found her look to be wildly endearing; it is always a pleasure working with her.  The above portrait is a photo that was taken after we had finished all of the product captures.  By this point, everybody involved in the photoshoot was wearing a pair of the supplied Oliver Peoples glasses, and we were dancing about in the forest to fresh electronic tracks, as Ed and I documented our stunning friends.

Jonah

This is my brother Jonah Ocean.  He recently graduated secondary school, and will be studying at VCC in the Jazz and Contemporary Instrumental Music program for guitar this year (though cello is the instrument he has received classical training for over the last few years).  He is wildly intelligent, and progresses musically at a rate that is alarming.  I look forward to seeing what he chooses to do in the future as the results will surely be magic.

Josh

This picture is from the C.P. Company/Killa work that Ed and I did not too long ago that can be seen at http://www.killa.ca/.  In two months when Josh returns from Paris where he’s currently doing an internship, I’ll do a proper portrait/bit on him.
